Some early-model Tesla vehicles (Roadster & S) come equipped with Baolong TPMS sensors. However if a customer visits a Tesla service center with TPMS issues, it’s possible that the car has been converted to Continental.
The retro-fit process typically involves replacing the TPMS module and sensors, and possibly the wiring harness. Benefits are improved reception (i.e. TPMS warning light should stay off) and pressure by location (dash shows psi for each tire).
For any technicians that are having trouble reading TPMS sensors on an older Tesla or if new ones don’t sync up to the car, it’s possible that the vehicle has been converted over. The customer can contact Tesla and obtain a service history to confirm the retro-fitting.
Alligator TPMS sensors cover both the Baolong & Continental systems so if the car has been converted then just need to reprogram the sensors and drive the car to register them to the vehicle.
