Even though Suzuki is a Japanese manufacturer, its vehicles learn TPMS sensors differently than other Asian makes (Honda, Toyota, etc). Typical method for initializing learn mode is by pushing the door-open switch in a certain sequence. The switch can be found on the vehicle’s B pillar. Once learn mode has been entered, a TPMS tool can be used to trigger the sensors for registration. A TPMS relearn should be performed when rotating tires or replacing sensors.
Relearn Procedure
- Close the doors
- Open the driver door and turn ignition on
- Press the door-open switch for 2 seconds and release it
- Press the door-open switch for 2 seconds and release it
- Press the door-open switch for 2 seconds and release it; the TPMS warning light should start flashing
- Note: the above steps must be performed within 15 seconds
- Test the front-left sensor – the TPMS light should blink 3 times
- Test the front-right sensor – the warning light should blink 2 times
- Test the rear-right sensor – the light should flash once
- Test the rear-left sensor – the light should come on for 5 seconds then disappear
For issues with getting the vehicle into learn mode, OE cloning is an option. If the original parts can’t be read for copying (exhausted battery etc) then the Alligator-TPMS website has a guide that shows how to find the sensor IDs.
